About the Green Party

The Green Party of the United States is a federation of state Green Parties. Committed to environmentalism, non-violence, social justice and grassroots organizing, Greens are renewing democracy without the support of corporate donors. Greens provide real solutions for real problems. Whether the issue is universal health care, corporate globalization, alternative energy, election reform or decent, living wages for workers, Greens have the courage and independence necessary to take on the powerful corporate interests. … We are partners with the European Federation of Green Parties and the Federation of Green Parties of the Americas.

The Green Party of Oklahoma was formed in 2002 and received its accreditation from the Green Party of the US in May 2005.

What is the mission of the Green Party of Oklahoma?

Our hope is to revive and restore Oklahoma’s progressive heritage, and adapt it for the 21st Century. Our state has a proud history of independent and grassroots political participation. It has produced — and continues to produce — some of the most clear-thinking, truth-telling and action-inspiring people in the US: folks like Will Rogers, Ralph Ellison and Wilma Mankiller.

The Green Party of Oklahoma is NOT yet officially recognized by the state as an official political party. We are working with other third parties to change the restrictive ballot access laws. In the meantime, we work to educate ourselves and the public, actively lobby for social and political issues in accordance with our Ten Key Values and party platform (often in coalition with other political parties and organizations) and build a grassroots network of progressive activists across the state.

We invite you to explore the information on this site, join our email discussion list, and work with us to make our state and country all it can be.

  1. I can’t believe all these years of not fitting into a particular party that I have found one that stands up for basic human rights and peace. I am a soldier in the US Army on my second tour of Iraq. I know first hand the horrors of war and how violence only produces more violence. I will do my best to futher educate myself on the near future and current problems of Oklahoma and the USA. I hope to become an active member and promote peace along side true believers of Democracy. Thanks.
